Alan

Ready for their Christmas seasonal shows I was asked by Sea Life to create Alan, a life sized polar bear cub puppet.
Alan was created for a Christmas story telling show where he was not only able to educate young guests about Polar Bears but also tell them fun Christmas stories about him and his friends.
Alan is made to be the size of a 4 month old polar bear cub who has just come out of his burrow. since there is very little information online regarding the size of the cubs I was able to work with the sea life aquarist team and found his sizing from an old research paper, just to make him as authentic to size as possible.
Alan also follows a design similar to Jude, in terms of his texture and patch work, a style which we have adopted for any future Sea Life puppets to create a sense of cohesion and family among them.
Alan also follows what has become a new tradition at Sea Life with their puppets and adopting famous queer names. Alan takes his name from Alan Turing, a hero both to the modern world and the queer world alike.
Below are images of both the finished Alan and him during construction.
